Transforming Lives that Transform Communities — 2 Timothy 2:2
A discipleship-based ministry transforming the lives of vulnerable young adults in Kisenyi, Kampala — restoring dignity, rebuilding identity, and raising godly leaders who transform their communities.
About the Ministry
T.E.A.M Challenge Ministries is a discipleship-based ministry founded by Betty Elingat, dedicated to reaching vulnerable and marginalized young adults in the slums of Kampala, Uganda.
Our flagship program, Beth Kavod – House of Glory, focuses on whole-person transformation of young adults aged 18–35 in Kisenyi through one-on-one discipleship, mentorship, emotional healing, skills training, and outreach. We aim to restore dignity, rebuild identity, and raise godly leaders who will transform their communities.
To transform lives that will transform communities — raising a people set free to worship and serve the Lord, and to faithfully disciple others across generations.
To disciple and nurture young people, equipping them through the revelation of God's love to live transformed lives; identify and develop faithful leaders; empower them to serve their communities; and release them to disciple others.
Transforming Lives that Transform Communities
— 2 Timothy 2:2
Why We Exist
Kisenyi faces extreme poverty, drug abuse, crime, broken families, and spiritual emptiness. Young adults aged 18–35 are the most feared, neglected, and yet the most capable of transforming their communities — if properly discipled.
This is the same reality in most ghettos across Uganda and beyond.
Beth Kavod provides 1–2 years of one-on-one discipleship, emotional healing, mentorship, and skills development — addressing the whole person.
The Program
A structured path from brokenness to leadership, built on the belief that sustainable change begins from the inside out.
Understanding the person, not just their potential. Establishing a spiritual, personal, and skills baseline.
Identity in Christ, renewed mind, discipline, integrity, and purpose through Bible-based teaching and small groups.
Discovering gifts and strengths through teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on exploration.
Biblical view of work, stewardship, starting small, and building accountability.
Practical application with mentorship, accountability, and regular progress reporting.
Graduation and placement — whether scaling a business, employment, or stepping into leadership.
Transformed Lives
The impact of Beth Kavod is best seen through the lives that have been transformed and are now transforming others.
The first young man taken into the founder's home. Today, Daniel is the Founder and Director of ESOM – Eternity Source of Music, one of the leading music schools in Uganda. Through ESOM, he offers scholarships to marginalized youth who carry the gift of music. Beyond professional success, Daniel has played a critical role in restoring his family.
The second young man welcomed into the founder's home. Having barely completed Primary Six, Abbey went on to establish Sembera Foundation — a ministry reaching children and youth from ghettos and streets around Kampala. He is now doing for others what was once done for him.
Completed his third year at Charis Bible College and is now actively teaching and discipling young people from the same marginalized background he came from — a living reflection of the ministry's commitment to multiplying disciples.
Simon Olengeja — a community political leader serving Kisenyi for over 10 years. Teachers shaping future generations. Kagame, serving in government. Adoa, working in IT. Pastors serving local communities. Responsible mothers like Nina, Suzan, and Ann rebuilding their families and communities. Fred — a teacher, husband, father of 6, and pastor in Eastern Uganda for over 16 years. These lives stand as living evidence of transformation.
The Founder
"If my mother allows, I will take one of them to live with us in her house."
Betty Elingat's journey began while working with African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE). When five young men from the streets — calling themselves the Street Voice Band — walked into her office and shared their stories, her heart broke. She whispered a prayer, and her mother responded with open arms: "Let him come. We will share the little we have."
Not everyone celebrated this act of love. Some were suspicious, others warned her these young people would never change. Discouragement crept in as friends advanced in careers and stability while she spent her time in the ghetto. In a moment of honest wrestling with God, He spoke clearly to her heart: "Betty, I love them."
That was enough. From that moment, Betty committed herself fully to the ministry of transforming marginalized young people — the very ones society had given up on. That obedience marked the birth of Team Challenge Ministry, and later Beth Kavod – House of Glory.
